Breast Education and Awareness Project
The Vinton County Health Department; funded by Komen Columbus, an affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is now offering breast health services to the residents of Vinton County. The Breast Education and Awareness Project (BEAP) has a wide variety of educational materials and a breast health educator available to all women of Vinton County. Services offered include free mammograms and gas vouchers for out of town appointments that are related to breast health or breast health follow up. The Vinton County Health Department is pleased to
announce that their Breast Health Educator has completed the MammaCare
Clinical Breast Examiner training and is now offering free breast health
clinics.
At this time, any woman aged 16 years and older that resides in Vinton County can receive educational materials, instruction on breast self exam, instruction on healthy habits for proper breast health, one-on-one counseling on breast issues, and clinical breast exams performed by a trained professional at no cost. Clinic times will be open to walk ins on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and any Tuesday or Thursday by appointment. These services are available at the Vinton County Health Department, in part, by a grant award received from Susan G. Komen for the Cure Columbus Affiliate.
