Help Me Grow
Help Me Grow (HMG) is a program for Vinton County’s expectant parents, newborns, and infants and toddlers (ages zero to three) that provide health and developmental services so children can start school healthy and ready to learn. Help Me Grow provides building blocks for success for families. We also provide parent meetings to create a network of parents to gain information from each other. The purpose of Help Me Grow is to provide the information, support and encouragement through Home Visiting, which parents need to help their child develop during the early years of life – which is also referred to as the “windows of opportunity.” Vinton County Help Me Grow also provide families, of a child with a delay or a disability, with access to a qualified evaluation and/or assessment as well as a Service Coordinator to help guide them through the process of attaining the supports and services needed for their child to achieve optimal growth and development. Families and Help Me Grow staff work together to create an Individual Family Service Plan or a Family Plan that is designed to address the family’s goals, or if needed, identify specialized services. The Service Coordinator/Home Visitor also inform families of advocacy services as well as assist the parents with transitioning their child, near the age of three, into preschool services, head start or education techniques at home.
