Help Me Grow
Is a program aimed at providing services to families with children under the age of three. Studies have shown the brain develops more rapidly before the age of one than at any other point in a person's life. This period of time is known as a "window of opportunity" in the child's brain development when it is especially open to a certain kinds of learning. Help Me Grow provides a valuable service to our Vinton County residents during this critical time of brain development. Help Me Grow can begin working with a family when the parent is expecting the birth of their child. We have a Registered Nurse on staff that can make a home visit for expectant moms as well as new moms and their newborns. On all visits, information for families and caregivers on child health and development is provided. Parents receive information on required immunizations and education on child development and where their child is developmentally. Help Me Grow helps identify children with delays and developmental disabilities. Upon identification of delays, staff work with families on finding the additional services that will benefit the child. These services can include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing services, and more.
