Lead Case Management

There are many health risks associated with lead poisoning.  Some of the health risks include:

  • Reduced IQ

  • Anemia

  • Stunted growth

  • Impaired hearing

  • Kidney damage

  • Learning disabilities

  • Attention deficit disorders

  • Behavioral problems

  • Permanent disabilities

When a child is diagnosed as having an elevated lead level, a Public Health Nurse is notified and acts as a case manager to ensure that all appropriate follow up is completed.

Some activities that the Public Health Nurse assists with include:

  • Assessment

  • Education

  • Coordination of available resources

  • Coordination with the Ohio Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
