Tobacco Education and Prevention Program This program is part of the Southeast Ohio Regional Tobacco Consortium (SEORTC) which is funded by a grant from the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation (OTPF). There are seven counties involved with SEORTC: Fairfield, Licking, Perry, Ross, Hocking, Pickaway, and Vinton. The program goals are:

Be part of an active group making a difference in your community! Did you know.. the _Vinton County Tobacco Prevention Coalition has been active in your community for 4 years. In that short period of time we have educated the community on the dangers of tobacco and second hand smoke. We have recognized “Smoke Free” businesses. We are continuing to work on ways to educate the community and make Vinton County a cleaner place to live. Be a part of this exciting group that gets results. We welcome your ideas and participation! Vinton County Health Department is now a 100% Tobacco Free Worksite In light of the health concerns regarding tobacco use and second hand smoke, the Vinton County Board of Health has established the following tobacco policy. The Vinton County Health Department will be a 100% tobacco free worksite effective 6/1/07. this policy prohibits the use of any type of tobacco while within or on the property of the Health Department. This policy also prohibits the use of tobacco in any Health Department owned vehicle. No Health Department employee will demonstrate the use of tobacco while in a client's home. This policy is for all persons entering Health Department property. Appropriate signage is to be posted. The Tobacco Health Educator makes school visits and schedules tobacco prevention presentations in the county. Cessation classes are offered to the community to help those who want to quit smoking. Tobacco education materials and posters have been delivered to various local, state and county agencies.
